Happy New Year!

Turning the calendar always brings a sense of satisfaction — like a clean slate, a fresh start, a new beginning. And yet, in reality, it’s just another day. Another opportunity to practice being the person you want to be and living the life you want to live.

Many people begin the year with dreams, intentions, goals, manifestations — habits they want to build, experiences they want to have, people they want to spend more time with.

I believe reflection matters. Having a loose plan matters. In order to move forward, you need some sense of direction. And at the same time, we have to remember this: life doesn’t move in a straight line. It never does.

Life delivers obstacles — and those are the moments that shape us. Those are the moments where we get to learn, to grow, and to become.

When I got divorced and suddenly needed to support myself and my children in one of the most expensive areas of the country, I walked around with a pit in my stomach all the time. I was consumed by worry — fear that I wouldn’t be able to make it, that starting my own business wouldn’t be enough to take care of myself and my girls.

Then one day, out on a run, something clicked.

I realized that if I spent all of my time and energy believing I wasn’t going to make it, that would become my reality. Right then and there, I made a decision: every time the thought “I’m not going to make enough money” showed up, I would replace it with a different question — How am I going to make the money?

That shift was everything.

It changed my perspective. It opened creativity. It invited possibility.

So as you write out your hopes and dreams this year, remember: it’s not just the big goals written down that matter — it’s the quiet, everyday self-talk that makes the biggest difference.

  • What thoughts and beliefs are you giving your attention to?

  • Which ones are ready to be released?

  • Where do you spend your time and energy — and does it align with the person you want to become and the life you want to live?

Where you place your attention, grows.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers in my work. But one thing I know for certain is this:

  • If you want deeper relationships but pour all your energy into work, work will grow and relationships will suffer.

  • If you believe you’re lazy or “bad at taking care of yourself,” your behaviors will reflect that belief.

  • If you believe you are an athlete and live accordingly, you become one.

  • If you believe you are enough, you begin to live like it.

  • If you trust that the universe has answers for you, they tend to appear.

So I’ll leave you with this question as we step into a new year together:
