Are You Training Smarter—or Just Checking Boxes?

I’ve been an endurance athlete for 27 years. My first marathon was in 1998, at 23 years old. I did every workout, checked every box, and nothing was going to stop me from finishing—not even a stress fracture.

Yes, I ran the Honolulu Marathon with a stress fracture in my lower leg. Armed with a lot of Aleve, I crossed the finish line…and then spent months sidelined from sport. Like many, I learned my lessons the hard way.

The silver lining? That setback opened the door to cycling, triathlon, trail running, and decades of endurance sport—along with countless lessons, both mental and physical.

Over the years, I’ve met athletes at every stage:

  • Some just starting out, discovering events that spark their excitement.

  • Others with years under their belt, navigating how training changes as life shifts.

I can’t give someone all the lessons I learned the hard way—they often need to live them to truly “get it.” But this month’s webinar is an opportunity to explore one of the most important questions you can ask yourself:

Is your training helping you—or hurting you?

When should you push through a workout? When should you back off and listen to your body? How do you know if you’re building fitness—or digging yourself into a hole?

Recognizing fatigue should be simple, but it’s not. Fatigue often creeps in slowly, and before you know it, you’ve forgotten what it feels like to truly have energy. Many people keep grinding, believing they “should” do certain workouts, without realizing they’ve normalized feeling tired.

Good coaching is not just telling you what to do—it’s teaching you how to read your own signals, understand the purpose of each training phase, and know when to push and when to rest.

This month, I’ll be joined by my dear friend and longtime endurance athlete and coach, Christine Fletcher. Christine was a professional triathlete for 17 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience to the conversation.

If you want to get the most out of your training—and your life—this is a conversation you don’t want to miss.

“Emilee brought together a group of exceptional women and then curated the content so precisely that it felt like it was created just for us. How can a group of women from around the country, most strangers when they arrived, leave feeling like they had known each other for decades? I don’t know, but somehow Emilee pulled that off. For as long as she puts on this retreat she can count of me to attend. It was just what my soul needed to head in to 2023 refreshed and ready to conquer the new year.”

Join us for the 5th Annual Women’s Wellness Retreat: The Year of the Feminine.
This is your invitation to explore what feminine energy truly is—and to honor it, nutritionally, emotionally, and sexually.

We’ll reconnect with the female body not as a project to manage, but as something sacred to nourish, trust, and celebrate. Together, we’ll learn to nourish ourselves on every level—with presence, compassion, and curiosity. You’ll awaken your creativity, your sensuality, and your inner power. You’ll remember who you are beneath the roles and responsibilities.

For four transformational days, you’ll be held, guided, and inspired by myself, Bekah Vandenberg, and Colleen Rue in a space designed for deep connection, laughter, and renewal.

If you’re feeling the pull, trust it—your Year of the Feminine begins now.
