Using GLP-1s Wisely: How to Support Your Body Along the Way

GLP-1 Medications:
Support, Not Judgment

The use of GLP-1 medications is a personal decision. Like anything, there are pros and cons, risks and rewards. It’s not a choice for me to make for my clients, or even to form a strong opinion on their behalf.

It’s individual. And like so many answers in nutrition and lifestyle, it truly depends.

There are many factors to take into consideration - health history, relationship with food, metabolism, goals, and long-term sustainability. I’ve seen a wide range of experiences, and my role is simply to support each person’s decision in the most informed, grounded way possible.

With the growing number of clients and Wise Wellness tribe members experimenting with these medications, I felt it was important to share a few ways to support the body through some of the most common discomforts and challenges.

What GLP-1s Can Change in the Body

GLP-1s suppress appetite, sometimes to the point where we worry about getting enough protein and micronutrients.

At the same time, these medications slow digestion, which can affect bowel movements (see newsletter on Poop) and increase the risk of muscle loss if intake is too low.

So the goal becomes:
✔ Preserve muscle
✔ Support digestion
✔ Prevent nutrient gaps
✔ Keep the body hydrated and resilient

A Gentle Reminder

GLP-1s can be a tool — but they’re not the whole story.

Long-term health still depends on:

  • Nourishing your body

  • Preserving muscle via strength training and protein

  • Supporting digestion

  • Staying curious about what your body needs

If you’re using a GLP-1 (or considering one), the most important thing is that your body still feels supported, fueled, and respected, not just smaller.

My intention is never to tell you what to do with your body, only to help you listen to it better.

With care,
